Can you deal with Cardiac Arrest in the workplace?

Often a cardiac arrest occurs without prior warning and if you are not properly equipped or trained to deal with the situation in the first ten minutes, it could be fatal.

If your business is situated in a remote location, employs an older workforce or operates within a hazardous environment, you could have an increased risk of someone in your premises suffering from a cardiac arrest.

Thankfully, there is a piece of first aid equipment that can literally help you to save a life, and this month we are offering a great deal to ensure your workplace can be properly equipped for this kind of medical emergency.

An AED or Automated External Defibrillator is a portable electronic device that diagnoses cardiac arrest and is able to treat the patient through delivering shocks as and when necessary.

We believe that an AED makes GREAT business sense but if you can’t see the value in one why not read on to see exactly how this piece of equipment can make the difference between life and death:

  • Cardiac arrests can be fatal if CPR and an AED are not administered within those vital first 10 minutes
  • You do not need training to operate an AED – whilst training is preferred, the AED can be used without as it tells you exactly what to do and you can’t make things worse as it will only deliver a shock if necessary
  • The chances of the patient’s survival decreases by 10% every minute without the use of CPR and an AED
  • With an AED you will always be prepared for a cardiac arrest in your workplace
