Fire Marshal - VIRTUAL

Course Summary:

A certificated course that defines assists and instils confidence in those who have a key role in managing fire safety in the workplace. This course covers both emergency and non-emergency issues of this vital role.

This course complies with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and Health & Safety legislation.

  • Fire legislation
  • The basic chemistry of fire and its differing classes
  • Fire fighting procedures
  • Causes of fires and their prevention
  • Emergency lighting
  • Fixed fire fighting installations
  • Evacuation assembly point and fire drills
  • Fire alarms
  • Fire hazards
  • Routine fire safety inspections and maintaining a fire log
  • Risk assessment awareness
  • Extinguisher recognition and use (theory)*

​This course complies with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

*Please note: Practical Fire Extinguisher Training is part of the course. As standard, The P-A-S-S technique is used for the extinguisher training. All learners will view a live-fire demonstration we have filmed for the purposes of this course.

P-A-S-S Technique

P - Pull the pin.  It is there to prevent accidental discharge.
A - Aim low at the base of the fire.  This is where the fuel source is.
S - Squeeze the lever above the handle.  Release to stop the flow.
(Some extinguishers have a button instead of a lever)
S - Sweep from side to side.  Move toward the fire, aiming low at its base.  Sweep until all flames are extinguished.  Watch for re-igniting.  Repeat as necessary.  Have the site inspected by the fire department?

Successful candidates will be awarded the Fire Marshal certificate, valid for 3 years.
